ITS TRIP Program 2026

Alongside my summer research through ITS TRIP, I helped introduce visiting elementary school students to engineering and connected Irvine Valley College students with research and project opportunities.

The Transportation Research Immersion Program (TRIP) at UCI’s Institute of Transportation Studies introduces undergraduate students to transportation research through a summer program guided by faculty mentors.

I participated as a student researcher during the summer of 2026. My involvement with the program also gave me opportunities to share engineering with younger students and build connections with the local college community.

Welcoming Jones Elementary School

Together with other TRIP members, I helped plan and host a visit to UCI for students from Jones Elementary School in San Bernardino. We guided them around campus and through our laboratories, and shared lunch together.

Representing UCI Engineering, I introduced the students to our Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering student clubs, courses, and what engineers do in their everyday work. The visit was an opportunity to show them both the academic and practical sides of studying engineering.

Exploring flight with paper airplanes

I explained the basics of aircraft and flight, then guided the students through designing and making paper airplanes. We finished with a friendly flying competition where they could try out their designs.

Connecting with Irvine Valley College

Through TRIP, I also connected with professors and students at Irvine Valley College (IVC), helping link IVC students with research and project opportunities.
