Summers 2025 & 2026Research mentor

UCI x GATI

In the summers of 2025 and 2026, I guided high school students through experimental design, data collection, and propeller noise analysis using a test stand I designed.

UCI x GATI offers summer research experiences that connect high school students with university research and mentorship at UC Irvine.

During the summers of 2025 and 2026, our Aircraft Systems Laboratory was selected by UCI as a host laboratory for the program. We welcomed high school students from across the United States and introduced them to engineering drawing and the research process.

From experimental design to data

Working alongside PhD student Melissa Lepe and Professor Jacqueline Huynh, I guided students through planning experiments, setting up equipment, collecting data, and analyzing the results.

Our experiments focused on propeller noise under different operating conditions, using a propeller test stand I designed. I helped students connect their experimental plans to the physical setup and work through the process of making measurements and interpreting the data together.

Sharing the joy of research

I was happy to share the enjoyment of research and engineering design with the students. Working through experiments together was a rewarding opportunity to help them explore what it feels like to ask questions, build a setup, and learn from the results.
